The Committee shall deal with all aspects of space stations including design, research, development, utilization, operations, and management as well as associated technologies and supporting activities. The Committee will deal with systems, and components. This includes the utilization of Space Stations in near Earth orbit as well as possible geo-stationary orbits, lunar orbits and planetary orbits.
The Committee will deal with activities aboard the Space Station or supportive to it such as communications, space transportation, servicing of vehicles and spacecraft at the station; support of on-orbit assembly aboard the station and related operations. The Committee will interest itself in long-term habitability technology, high power generation and utilization, proximity operations, data-management systems, spacecraft dynamics and those technologies needed for building, operating and using space stations.
The Committee should cooperate with the IAF Committees on Life Sciences; Propulsion; Power; Space Transportation; Space Systems; Astrodynamics; Materials and Structures; and Space Processing and Microgravity Applications. Special emphasis will be applied to the international character of space stations and the fostering and enhancement of international cooperation.
